Storm Doris swept across the country today (Thursday February 23) causing a path of destruction in London as gusts of up to 60mph brought down trees and forced roads to close.

The Met Office has labeled the storm a "weatherbomb" and it has brought trees down across west London in Hillingdon , Hounslow , Twickenham , Chiswick , Harrow and White City , causing chaos on the roads.

Flights were cancelled at Heathrow Airport , services on the London Overground have been disrupted and London Euston and London St Pancras are reporting cancellations on services.

London Fire Brigade said it have attended more than 100 Storm Doris related incidents across the capital already.

This afternoon, a pedestrian was taken to hospital after being hit by flying debris outside London Victoria station.

A statement from London Ambulance Service said: "We have attended 17 weather-related incidents so far today including road traffic collisions, wall and building collapses and trees being blown over by Storm Doris. We’ve also treated a number of patients with head injuries as a result of falling debris.

“We were prepared for this and have over 400 emergency vehicles on London’s roads today, as we continue to monitor the situation.

“We’re advising Londoners to observe Met Office weather warnings and to take care when travelling around the capital this evening."

Ambulances, fire engines and police vans rushed to Kilburn High Road this afternoon after the roof of a Costa Coffee shop collapsed from heavy gusts of wind.

Emergency services closed both directions of the busy A5 at around 2.30pm on Thursday (February 23) as they tried to make the area safe from the weather conditions bought on by Storm Doris .

A Metropolitan Police officer told getwestlondon at the scene: "The roof the Costa did collapse and the pedestrian area will stay closed for at least two hours whilst we make sure the damage has been removed safely."
