A man has suffered "life-changing injuries" after a collision with a car in Stanmore this morning (December 13).

Metropolitan police were called at 7.48am to a collision involving a pedestrian and a car outside Stanmore Underground station in London Road.

Officers said a pedestrian believed to be in his 20s was involved in a collision with a car and his injuries are being treated as life threatening.

London Air Ambulance (LAA) also attended.

The road is now closed between London Road and Morecambe Gardens, Marsh Lane and Merrion Avenue.

Delays are being described as "severe."

The pedestrian has been taken to a central London hospital, officers added.

The driver stopped at the scene and is assisting with enquires.

There have been no arrests.

London Ambulance Service statement

A spokesman from London Ambulance Service (LAS) said: “We were called today at 7.46am to reports of a road traffic collision at London Road, Stanmore.

“We sent an ambulance crew and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“We treated a man at the scene for a head injury and took him as a priority to a major trauma centre”.
