Spurs stars Harry Kane and Eric Dier visited Wembley ahead of the club's opening Champions League clash at the stadium to meet fans.

The England duo were also at the stadium on Wednesday (September 7) along with Lilywhites legend Gary Mabbutt to promote the My Heart Beats for Brent campaign, launched to get people exercising more.

Tottenham Hotspur are playing their home UEFA Champions League games at Wembley this season while expansion work is done on their White Hart Lane ground.

They begin the European campaign with an encounter with Monaco next Wednesday (September 14).

Mauricio Pochettino has transformed the title contenders into one of the Premier League's fittest teams, and their lung-busting displays make them the perfect role models for Brent Council's drive to promote exercise.

My Heart Beats for Brent was set up to encourage people who currently spend little time working out to do at least 30 minutes of physical activity a day.

Former Spurs captain Gary Mabbutt said: "Given the borough of Brent is becoming our temporary home, it is important for us as a Club to engage with the local community here as we do in Tottenham and we aim to use our unique appeal as a football club to promote healthy lifestyles amongst residents through the My Heart Beats for Brent campaign."

'Spurs Nurse' carries out free health checks

Players past and present were joined on the day by the "Spurs Nurse" - the only qualified community health worker employed by a football club community scheme - who carried out free health checks on members of the public.

Councillor Krupesh Hirani, the council's cabinet member for community wellbeing, said: "We are delighted to welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Wembley and to have the club's support for the My Heart Beats for Brent campaign is brilliant.

"Whatever your age, there's strong scientific evidence that being physically active can help you lead a healthier and even happier life. People who exercise regularly have a lower risk of many chronic diseases, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes and stroke.

"I exercise regularly and my heart beats for Gladstone Park Run on Saturday mornings and for 5-aside football at Alperton Goals.

"There are so many fantastic facilities, clubs, classes and open spaces in Brent to get your 30 minutes a day."
