A sponsored spin session in support of a young girl battling cancer raised £3,000.

More than 80 customers and staff at Isleworth Leisure Centre clocked up 810 miles over 12 hours on Friday (April 24).

They were pedalling in aid of fitness instructor Jose De Freitas's daughter Juliana, who turns two on Wednesday (April 29), and is battling Wilms' tumour, a cancer of the kidneys.

Juliana and her dad went down to support the cyclists at the recreation centre in Twickenham Road, Isleworth, where he works, just four days before she was due to undergo surgery for a second time.

The event raised £3,000 for the children's cancer charity Momentum as participants covered more than three times their original target of cycling the distance between Brazilian cities Sao Paulo and Rio De Janeiro.

It followed an earlier spinathon for Momentum, led by Mr De Freitas himself, which took place at the centre on March 29.
