There has been a spate of tool thefts from vans in the Chiswick area.

Police in Chiswick have reported a rise in the number of thefts from motor vehicles over the past week.

At least four incidents of the crime have been reported where tools have been taken from parked vans both during the daytime or overnight.

Officers are warning residents to remain vigilant and where possible for drivers to remove items such as tools from their vehicles and keep them out of sight.

On Tuesday (Aug 2) police from the Chiswick team alerted their Twitter followers to the recent surge in tool theft.

@MPSChiswick tweeted: “We've seen an increase in theft of tools from vans in the #Chiswick area over the past week. Where possible pls remove them. @MPSHounslow .”

So far the four incidents of theft of tools from vans reported to the police include two thefts from vans on Flanders Road.

Another was reported on Homefields Road overnight between 6pm and 7.55am on July 31/August 1, and the fourth on the same day but later in the afternoon at Dukes Meadows between 12.50pm and 2.30pm.

Last week, police were out on the streets of Hounslow tackling street drinking .
