A space school which is due to launch in Feltham has a few places remaining for aspiring astronauts to enrol before September.

Excitement is brewing as the team of staff get everything set up for lift-off of Space Studio West London on September 3, where there are 15 places available for pupils going into Year 10 or 12.

The school will be housed in a temporary building at Bridge House, Crendon Court off Hanworth Road, for its first year of teaching.

Building works will also get under way at the school's permanent site on the grounds of Rivers Academy.

So far, the school has taken delivery of a flight simulator which students will use to practice their skills.

It has also partnered up with Kingston University to provide pupils with access to first class engineering facilities and equipment while at Bridge House.

The start of the school term will begin with students going through a selection process to see who will be travelling to Houston, Texas, in October, to visit NASA and meet the engineers and astronauts who will take them behind-the-scenes to restricted areas.

The school combines academic studies with hands on learning for 14 to 18-year-olds and will specialise in preparing students for careers in the space and aviation industries.
