Police and paramedics were called following reports of a stabbing near an ice cream shop in Southall - but found no victims or suspects at the scene when they arrived.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed officers were called to an incident in The Broadway at around 9.10pm on Friday (May 12).

But despite the best efforts of officers and paramedics, who embarked on an "extensive" search of the area, no-one in need of treatment.

Police called into ice cream shop Creams to ask staff if they'd witnessed anything.

On Saturday, a member of staff at the ice cream parlour said: "There's only myself and two other people working here today and we haven't actually seen what happened.

"There's nothing here at all today, no police, nothing."

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police added: "Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and extensively searched the area but no victims or suspects were found.

"Anyone with information or witnesses should contact police on 101 or Tweet @MetCC."

Information can also be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or on their website .
