A Southall man who was caught red handed filming up female commuters' summer dresses is facing jail.

Indika Rajapaksha, 35, was spotted by plain-clothed police officers at London Bridge station "paying close attention" to women as he hovered around the bottom of the escalators on June 3.

The shop worker, of Allenby Road, Southall, freely admitted to police that he was out trying to film up womens' skirts and boasted he had spent the morning targeting shoppers in Bond Street. A number of videos, including two clips of footage taken up skirts, were found on his phone.

Rajapaksha pleaded guilty to two counts of outraging public decency at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (June 17).

Zoe Becker, prosecuting, said: "Mr Rajapaksha was noticed by police at London Bridge paying close attention to female members of the public.

"He had a mobile phone in his hand and was seen to move quickly behind a woman wearing a green dress on the escalator and place his mobile phone under her dress.

"When he was interviewed he said he went out that day planning to film up womens' skirts and said he had done it for sexual gratification – he didn’t express remorse."

Adjourning sentence until July 8, chairwoman of the bench Mary Argles said: "We’re of the opinion that what you did is so serious custody might be the only option."

Rajapaksha was also barred from travelling on the London Underground while he awaits sentence.

Ms Argles said: "If you are seen on the London Underground you will be in breach of your bail and will be brought back to court."

He was also banned from the London Overground on the grounds any station with escalators or stairs could present too great a temptation.

Rajapaksha, spoke only to confirm his name, address and enter his guilty pleas.
