Road reopened

South Road has now reopened following the earlier crash, however there are still long queues along South Road and Uxbridge Road, as the road was closed for several hours.

This was the lorry involved in the crash in South Road earlier today.

Drivers advised to avoid the area

Motorists are advised to avoid the area by Ealing Council, as the road closure remains in place.

Bus routes still diverted

The road closure means bus routes 95, 105, 120, 195, 482, E5, H32 are still diverted.

South Road still remains closed

South Road in Southall is still closed, four hours on from the crash, between The Green and Uxbridge Road, congestion remains from Delamere Road to Green Drive.

London Ambulance Service statement

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said:

“We were called at 8.54am to reports of a road traffic collision on South Road, Ealing.

“We sent a single responder in a car, two ambulance crews, our hazardous area response team and an incident response officer to the scene, with our first crew arriving in three minutes. London’s Air Ambulance were also dispatched.

“Sadly, despite extensive resuscitation efforts by our medics, a man died at the scene.”

The fatal crash this morning has led to queues on Uxbridge Road from Delamere Road to Green Drive. Motorists are advised to continue avoiding the area.

Man dies in Southall crash

The Metropolitan Police has just confirmed that a cyclist has died in the crash this morning.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at approximately 08:56hrs to South Road, at the junction with St Joseph’s Drive, following reports of a road traffic collision between a lorry and a cyclist. Officers attended along with colleagues from the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.

A male, believed to be aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.Next of kin are aware.The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.There have been no arrests.Officers from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit deal.

Road closures are in place.Motorists are advised to avoid the area.”

Buses on diversion

Bus routes 105 and E5 will be terminating at Carlyle Avenue, 482 and H32 will be terminating at Merrick Road and 120 and 195 are on diversion due to the crash.

An eyewitness has reported seeing an air ambulance near the scene of the crash.
