A female pedestrian has died after a fatal collision with an HGV in Southall on Friday (August 26) morning.

Metropolitan Police officers confirmed to getwestlondon that an 85-year-old woman has died in an incident with a lorry in The Broadway area, Southall, at the junction with Herbert Road.

They said: "A woman has died following a road traffic collision in Southall.

"Next of kin have been informed.

London Ambulance services and the police rushed to the scene, but medical staff pronounced her dead shortly after their arrival to the junction.

ALondon Ambulance spokesperson told getwestlondon: "We were called at 11.03am today, 26 August to reports of a road traffic collision at The Broadway, Southall.
"We sent an ambulance crew, a single responder in a car, an incident response officer and an emergency responder to the scene alongside London’s Air Ambulance.

"The first of our medics arrived at the scene in under five minutes.

"Sadly, a patient died at the scene."

Both directions of the A4020 Uxbridge Road are still closed as investigations continue at the scene of the crash, which took place around 11.05am.

A man who lives in the neighbourhood tweeted: "Just seen London Air Ambulance take off near my back garden."

Early speculation on social media had suggested there had been a fatal incident involving an elderly lady around Southall Broadway.

The lorry driver stopped following the collision and no arrests have been made.
