With snow forecast across the UK on Thursday January 12, the Met Office has put together a video of all that you need to know.

The video highlights that over the next few days it will turn colder with bitter winds and snow for some.

There will be rain in the south with a small risk of this turning to snow on Thursday and Friday January 13 will see a further risk of snow showers.

A yellow severe weather warning for snow is in place for London on Thursday.

Spokesman for the Met Office, Grahame Madge, told GetWestLondon that there is a 15% to 20% chance of snow in the capital.

"From 10am on Thursday until 9pm in the evening, we have a yellow warning out for snow," he said.

"We have a weather system that will be moving across southern England, we expect that that will deliver reasonable amounts of rainfall.

"However, there is a chance that as that rain encounters the colder air from further north that there is a possibility, we are looking at around sort of 15% to 20% or so, so quite low risk of that turning to snow."

If the snow does settle, motorists should be prepared for disruption on the roads, the Met Office has warned.
