Plans for a temporary car park at a park in Brentford have been dropped following a flurry of objections.

getwestlondonrevealed last month how Sky had applied to create a temporary 120-space car park under the M4 flyover in Boston Manor Park while redevelopment takes place at its Osterley HQ.

The broadcaster has now withdrawn the planning application, given the strength of the opposition, before it could be considered by Hounslow Council.

The car park plan had been fiercely opposed by the Friends of Boston Manor, a voluntary group which helps maintain the park in Boston Manor Road.

Linda Massey, the group's liaison officer, said: "Park users have been coming to me over the past few weeks asking what is happening so I will be delighted to tell them that the application has been withdrawn and to thank those that took pen to paper/fingers to keyboard to support our concerns."

A spokesman for Sky confirmed it had withdrawn the application and would now look at other options.
