Six people escaped unharmed from a three-car smash which involved an unmarked police car in Chiswick on Valentine's Day.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service (LAS) treated six people for minor injuries at the scene of the accident in Gunnersbury Avenue.

Metropolitan Police said officers were called shortly after 6pm on Sunday (February 14) to a collision on Gunnersbury Avenue, near the junction with Popes Lane, involving three cars.

A Metropolitan police spokesman said: “One of the cars was an unmarked police car; the other two were members of the public cars.

“There were two occupants in each vehicle. All were described as suffering minor injuries and were treated by LAS at the scene.”

Traffic was crawling after road closures and diversions were in place in both directions on Gunnersbury Avenue between Chiswick Roundabout and Popes Lane for three hours while emergency services dealt with the crash.

Roads were fully reopened at around 9.15pm.

Officers from the Roads and Transport Policing Command attended the scene and enquiries into the circumstances are underway.

No arrests have been made.
