Six people were arrested after police swooped on suspected drug dealers in Hounslow .

Police teamed up with enforcement officers from Hounslow Council to crack down on alleged dealing in Southall and Brentford .

Two men were spotted by CCTV operators approaching a car in what appeared to be a drugs-related rendezvous close to the Haverfield estate, in Brentford, on January 18.

The council's police team went to investigate but the vehicle failed to stop and evaded officers following a chase.

The next day the vehicle was spotted again, alongside three others, and this time police ensured the driver didn't get away. Officers found drugs in the car and arrested three men, all of whom remain on police bail.

Police then teamed up with council enforcement officers to raid a property in Perran Walk, Brentford, which was believed to be connected to drugs offences.

Two people were detained, one after fleeing through a window, and a large quantity of drugs was found at the property. Both suspects were arrested on suspicion of drug dealing and they remain on police bail.

'Drug dealers not welcome in our borough'

Days later, on January 25, enforcement officers spotted what appeared to be drugs exchanging hands in Convent Way, Southall.

They used CCTV to track a suspect and guide officers from the council's police team to the scene, where he was found with drugs.

More drugs were found at his home and he was arrested on suspicion of dealing Class A drugs, and remains on police bail.

Councillor Richard Foote, Hounslow Council's cabinet member for community protection, said: "This is a great result towards our fight to make our streets safer. Drug dealers are not welcome in our borough and the council's enforcement officers and police's efforts are yielding good results."

He added that the suspects would face eviction from their council home should they be convicted of drugs offences.

Sergeant Neil Witcombe, of the council police team, said: "The council has been very clear in its stance against crime and has been tirelessly assisting the police to proactively target drug and anti-social behaviour issues within Hounslow's estates.

"These incidents show that with this joint working approach we can and will target individuals that commit crime within the estates and make them a safer place for the hard working local residents to live."
