This frightening image which has just caused a chill down your spine was the scene discovered by officers responding to a domestic assault report in Hounslow.
This menacing scene likened to an "Alfred Hitchcock film" was taken at a home in Isleworth.
It shows at least 19 knives, on either side of each step, pierced into a wooden staircase, littered with coloured cards as well as a bullet.
Inspector Jack Rowlands tweeted: "A few weeks back a colleague of mine went to a domestic assault & found this when he entered. Male arrested & charged. Life saved."
The image sparked a social media frenzy and nearly 400 people have retweeted it with comments such as "it's like something from a horror movie".
Others said things like "so shocking, so horrific"; and "what a sinister sight".
However the important message behind this terrifying image is to raise awareness of domestic violence.
Insp Rowlands posted: "Lots of comments & shock about this picture. An image that raises the awareness of domestic violence & how much more is needed to be done."
A poster-led campaign has recently been launched to tackle abuse among vulnerable adults, in Hounslow, highlighting different types and signs of abuse.
A 42-year-old appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on April 4 charged with common assault.
He was remanded on bail until May 26 to return for trial at the same court.
