Singer Mick Hucknall has spoken of his excitement at performing in in the Live at Chelsea series of concerts later this year.

Simply Red will be the third and final act in the three-night series , which is being held at Royal Hospital Chelsea on June 17-19.

Speaking in a Q&A, the singer said he was looking forward at the historic venue, a Grade I listed building which is home to the famous Chelsea Pensioners.

He said: "We’ve been lucky enough to play at some amazing venues worldwide over the years, but we’re really looking forward to playing such a unique venue in London as the Royal Hospital Chelsea."

Praising the work of the hospital, he continued: "I believe it’s vital we keep the legacy alive for future generations to learn about the country's past and the sacrifices made by our fellow countrymen.

"The Chelsea Pensioners are a national institution, and the hospital has and continues to do incredible work to support the veterans and wider community – it’s great to be a part of helping bring that knowledge to a wider audience."

Simply Red will play at Royal Hospital Chelsea on June 19. Wet Wet Wet will play the middle concert on June 18 , while the Royal Philhamonic Concert Orchestra will kick off proceedings with a Chelsea Fireworks Prom .

Tickets for the concerts are available from the Live at Chelsea website . A portion of the ticket sale proceeds from the shows will also go towards funding care for the Chelsea Pensioners who live at The Royal Hospital, as well as helping fund the ongoing maintenance of the site .
