A silver surfer who helps her elderly neighbours with their technological troubles has been recognised with a special Christmas delivery.

Jennifer Knox was surprised at her home in James Darby House, Twickenham , with a festive hamper from Richmond Housing Partnership (RHP).

Not only is the 85-year-old grandmother-of-three a whizz when it comes to computers and happy to share her knowledge, she also tends the communal gardens at the retirement homes and until recently organised outings for fellow residents.

She was nominated by Haleh Reporter, the former scheme manager at James Darby House, who said: "She's a brilliant neighbour and a pillar of support for other residents at the retirement scheme. I couldn't think of anyone more deserving."

Ms Knox said: "I've never received anything like this before. It's really special to be recognised for helping and giving within the community."

"I've never received anything like this before"

She is one of the good neighbours across Hounslow , Richmond and beyond who have been receiving a special visit from RHP's elves each day in the run-up to Christmas.

There's still time to nominate someone near you to receive a hamper from the housing association in reward for their good deeds, from helping with the shopping to sprucing up the street.

Caroline Hand, head of community services at the housing association, said: "It's been very touching to see the nominations come in and to learn about the acts of kindness and help that customers have given one another.

"Some of our customers have told us that they will be on their own for Christmas this year and receiving this present from a fellow neighbour has made them feel really special and appreciated."

* RHP customers can nominate a neighbour by emailing communications@rhp.org.uk with the name and address of the person you're proposing and the reason why.
