More than 100 worshippers at the Shree Swaminarayan temple in Kingsbury will be donning their pink clothes as they aim to complete the 2016 St Luke's Midnight Walk.

They will join a number of other local faith and youth groups who will be walking the nine mile route around Harrow on Friday June 17.

The Maninagar Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Sansthan, Shree Swaminarayan Temple in Kingsbury has over 100 people walking and volunteering on the night after having chosen St Luke’s as their main charity partner for their grand opening festival in 2014, supporting the hospice’s Midnight Walk every year since.

The night kicks off at Harrow Leisure Centre at 11pm with entertainment and a fun warm-up before the start of the walk at midnight, which will pass through Harrow Weald, Stanmore, Queensbury and Kenton before finishing back at Harrow Leisure Centre.

The Kingsbury Temple’s service advisor, Premila Bhojani said: "I have been helping to organise the walk for two years now and getting the members of the temple to take part has never been hard thanks to our Acharya Swamishree Maharaj’s aspiration.

"From young to old they are always happy to take part, have a laugh, sing along and have their face painted or anything else for laughter and fun.

"In return we help raise the sponsorship that is needed to help with the running of the hospice.

"If these retired ladies from the temple can walk past their bed time and raise money, imagine what you can do to help? Join in today and let as all have fun and raise money for such a worthy cause.

"We lost an aunt at the hospice last year July who was absolutely chuffed with the support she had in the last few days of her life.

"This care can only be provided if we all help and support events such as the Midnight Walk.

"We as walkers and marshals from the temple help bring the fun and laughter to all and are delighted to be talking part annually."

Other organisations who have pledged their support of the Midnight Walk include the Stanmore Mosque, Baladia Youth Club, KKYW (Shree Kera-Kundanpur Community UK) and Masters Youth Club.
