This shocking footage has been released by police after a man went on a "rampage" at a Network Rail depot in Victoria last year.

The CCTV images show a man climbing a fence into the compound before using a hammer to smash up walls, windows, toilets and computers before taking a Network Rail van and crashing it through closed gate.

During the “meaningless” incident, which happened just before 9am on October 22, up to £30,000 worth of damage was caused.

Police released the CCTV footage after the incident last October

Investigating officer with the British Transport Police (BTP), Detective Sergeant Krishan Appannah, said: “This was an utterly meaningless rampage.

“By stealing a van and driving it so erratically, this could have had lethal consequences for either the man himself or a passing member of the public.

“His 30-minute path of destruction is estimated to have caused roughly £20,000 to £30,000 worth of damage.
