A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of Ionut Lazar in Shepherd’s Bush last year.

The Romanian national was shot in the chest and died at an address in Askew Road on October 22 2016, just two days after arriving in the country.

After three men were acquitted of his murder following an Old Bailey trial earlier this month , officers made another arrest on Thursday (August 24), after a 23-year-old man attended a London police station.

He has now been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

London Ambulance Service had been called to the address in Shepherd’s Bush at 2.40am to reports of an unconscious male, but Mr Lazar died at the scene a short time later.

It was initially believed Mr Lazar had been stabbed, but a post mortem at Fulham Mortuary on October 24 gave the cause of death as a bullet wound to the chest.

Nineteen-year-old Hanad Mohamed, from Parlaunt Road in Slough, 22-year-olds Yousif Mohamud, from St Mark’s Road in Notting Hill and Nadir Munasar, of no fixed abode, and Sufyan Elbakali, 21, from Alpha Place, Kilburn, were all acquitted of the murder and robbery of Mr Lazar on August 10.

Two other males, aged 17 and 16, arrested in October on suspicion of murder were both released with no further action.

Anyone with information on the murder can call the incident room on 0208 721 4812.

Information can also be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or on the website .
