Passengers have been warned to expect severe delays on the Piccadilly line, due to a shortage of train operators.

Transport for London tweeted on Sunday, January 17, just after 2pm, to advise people to consider other means of transport.

It tweeted again at 2.40pm to say there was no service between Acton Town and Uxbridge, and severe delays on the rest of the line.

It said waiting times could range from 15 minutes upwards and trains might be held at stations for long periods.

TfL said Tube tickets were being accepted on local buses and Great Nothern train services.

It had warned this morning of minor delays on parts of the line due to icy conditions, as much of London was covered with a fine dusting of snow overnight.
