A man took to the roof of a mental health unit in Hounslow wearing nothing but his underpants.
A spokesman for the Met said at 2.30pm on Friday that police remained at the scene dealing with the incident.
But a spokesperson for West London Mental Health Trust , which manages the unit, said at 2.45pm that the situation had now been "resolved".
"We can confirm there was a man on the roof at Lakeside Mental Health Unit. We have worked closely with the police and fire brigade to resolve the matter," she added.
"He has been successfully rescued from the roof at around 2.30pm and is now safely back inside the unit."
A patient at West Middlesex Hospital , which is next door to the two-storey building, told getwestlondon the man appeared to be naked or wearing just his underpants.
"I could see the roof of the building from where I was sitting in the hospital, and it was a young man who appeared to be wearing nothing except possibly his underwear," said the hospital patient, who asked to remain anonymous.
On Sunday (July 19), a patient was rescued from Lakeside and treated for burns and smoke inhalation after a fire broke out at the unit, from which nearly 60 people were evacuated.
