And yes, we really are only just touching the surface.
But do any properties match up to its grandeur here in west London?
Well with the most expensive houses on the market for up to around £60million, they are certainly giving it a run for its money.
On Zoopla, for £60million, you can bag yourself an eight bed terraced house in Mayfair, complete with a lift, swimming pool and a double garage.
For a slightly more "affordable" residence, you can grab a £35million penthouse on the edge of Hyde Park in Knightsbridge.
The 10,000-square-foot apartment comes complete with a roof terrace and balconies, a cinema, six double bedrooms and a jacuzzi.
And that's not it, there is also a fully equipped gym, treatment room and there is not one but two kitchens, because we all know how important breakfast is!
Coming in at a similar price, there is a £30million five bedroom house for sale in Chelsea.
Originally built in the 1860s, this house features a swimming pool, dressing room, entrance hall and a gym.
And if you think that is expensive, then you can think again.
With twice as many bedrooms, this next house is marketed as "price on appointment".
So we will let you hazard a guess at the price tag on this beauty.
Located in Upper Phillimore Gardens in Kensington, just a stone throw away from Kensington Palace, this 10 bedroom detached house features everything you could possibly want from a dream home.

Our verdict? We think west London offers a pretty good alternative to America's most expensive mansion.
