After 11 years in the mixed martial art (MMA) business Acton-based fighter 'Judo' Jim Wallhead said its like a 'weight is off his shoulders' to be signed by the biggest organisation in the sport – the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

With a professional MMA record of 29 wins and nine losses the veteran of the sport has been given a shot at the big time and will step into the UFC Octagon on Saturday September 3.

Jim previously fought out of Leicester Shootfighters gym but moved to London Shootfighters in Western Avenue, Acton round two and a half years ago.

Having previously fought in the BAMMA and Bellator leagues, Jim will be making his debut at UFC Fight Night: Hamburg where he will take on German fighter Jessin Ayari.

UFC is the largest and highest level MMA organisation and is compared with the footballing premier league.

The sport combines different martial arts and combat sports into one discipline including Muay Thai, boxing , jiu jitsu and wrestling.
