A second machete in the space of a fortnight has been discovered on the streets of Hounslow .

The latest weapon was found concealed in a black sports bag on a street in Chiswick .

The potentially lethal weapon was handed in to local police by a member of the public on Friday, September 23.

Its discovery follows that of another machete which was found in a park in Hanworth earlier this month, close to a group of youths.

While that weapon was rusty and appeared to have been on the streets for some time, this one appears to be in very good condition, suggesting it may have been more recently stashed.

Police tweeted following the latest discovery, writing: "This scary machete is now in the safe hands of the law after being dumped on our streets!"

Police in Hounslow and across London carry out frequent weapons sweeps, as criminals are known to hide knives and guns in public so they can be easily accessed when wanted.
