A school built on the former RAF Uxbridge site has achieved an Outstanding rating in every category at its first Ofsted ispection.

John Locke Academy on Bader Way was built in 2014 as part of the St Andrew's Park development which will see 1,300 new homes being built and a museum to the only remaining World War II bunker in the country.

The primary school has intakes from Reception and currently has 212 pupils as well as a nursery. So far the school has pupils up to Year 2 but will continue to take pupils up to Year 6.

The school achieved an 'Outstanding' rating, the highest grade, in each of the six categories at its first ever inspection.

The categories looked at the leadership, quality of teaching, behaviour and welfare, pupil outcomes and early years provision.

Dr Caroline Whalley CBE, Founder of the Elliot Foundation which runs the academy said: “I am immensely proud of Darrell and all the staff at John Locke.

"Before the school was even built, Darrell said he wanted to create a place where learning was “irresistible”. That vision has clearly been achieved.”

The school sits on the former athletic track at the RAF site, used to house sprinters and runners in the 1948 Olympic Games in London.
