A huge and unique event to raise money for a Hillingdon homeless charity will see very special guests Russell Brand and Boris Johnson showing their support.

Uxbridge -based Trinity Homeless Projects house more than 250 people every year in the borough and are holding their eighth Trinity Big SleepOut on Friday December 2.

The massive event will see around 500 people attending and aims to raise more than £150,000 to support the fantastic work the charity is doing.

Those taking part in the event at Hillingdon Athletics Stadium in Gatting Way will spend a night sleeping rough with just a cardboard box in freezing conditions, all for a great cause

Operations director with Trinity, Emma Cantrell, said: “The Big SleepOut raises vital funds to house people who are homeless in Hillingdon and Slough.

"We are aiming to raise £200,000 this year which ensures we can continue to house people who are homeless in Hillingdon and provide emergency support to people who sleep rough in Slough.

“We really need local people to sign up to undertake this challenge to support the vital work we do – without the support of the whole community we can't end homelessness.”

The eighth Big SleepOut takes place on Friday, December 2

Homelessness in Hillingdon has more than doubled between 2010 and 2015, and has increased across London by 127% in that time.

Trinity has a day centre in Slough which provides meals, clothes, food and advice to people sleeping on the streets.

The Trinity Big SleepOut will have comedians, musicians performing as well as appearance from comedian and actor Russell Brand, and the Uxbridge MP and Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson.

Ms Cantrell added: “We expect over 500 people to SleepOut, for just one night, to see a little bit of what it's like to sleep rough, and then realise as they wake up the next morning that there is no place like home.

“We have entertainment from comedians, musicians, and DJs and appearance from Russell Brand and Boris Johnson as well as inspiring stories of how the work we do changes lives.”
