A man in his 70s crashed into a zebra crossing post in Ruislip while driving his car on Thursday (January 5).

The collision happened at around 10.47am in Bury Street at the junction with Pinn Way, and police closed off the street.

Metropolitan Police officers closed off the road to traffic while the vehicle was recovered.

The driver of the car, believed to be in his 70s, sustained minor injuries but did not require medical attention.

Bury Street was reopened to the public on Tuesday afternoon but delays remained for a number of hours.

A statement from the Met Police said: “Police were called at 10.47am on Thursday January 5 to Bury Street at the junction with Pinn Way, Ruislip, to reports of a road traffic collision.

“Officers attended and found a car in a collision with a zebra crossing post.

“The driver of the care, believed to be aged in his 70s, sustained minor injuries.

“He did not require medical assistance.”
