Sports fans in Stanmore, Brent and Hounslow make a note in their diary - the Rugby World Cup trophy is coming to town.

England Rugby 2015 will embark on a tour across the UK on June 6 - 100 days before the tournament begins on September 18.

The Web Ellis Cup, awarded to the winning team, will travel through Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Wales and England.

It will give fans the opportunity to take photos with the cup and learn more about the upcoming tournament.

  • Stanmore will host the trophy tour on September 9 at Harrow RFC, Brent on September 12 at Kilburn Cosmos RFC,
  • Then Reedless Park in Hounslow will host the trophy on September 13 on the final few days of the tour before it arrives at Twickenham Stadium on September 18 ahead of the Opening Ceremony.

Many other dates and venues in London are still to be confirmed.

Debbie Jevans, Chief Executive Officer of England Rugby 2015 said “The Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour will be the perfect opportunity to excite and engage fans across the UK and Ireland and make 2015 feel like the year of the rugby nation.

“Delivering a continuous 100 day tour means we can give as many fans as possible the opportunity to see the Webb Ellis Cup and tell us their rugby story as they count down to their own Tournament experience.”

With just under six months to go, the 15 Official Rugby World Cup 2015 Fanzone locations across England and in Cardiff have also been announced, including one at Wembley Park.

The Fanzone will be open to those attending the matches at Wembley Stadium: New Zealand v Argentina (September 20 from 4.45pm) and Ireland v Romania (September 27, 4.45pm).

These areas will have a big screen showing live matches, rugby activities, food and drink and entertainment with unique regional content.

Councillor Muhammed Butt, Leader of Brent Council, said: "We are delighted that Wembley Stadium, will host an Official Fanzone during the Tournament."

"We are pleased to announce Brent's involvement in the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour and welcome the Webb Ellis Cup which will allow local residents to get into the spirit of what is going to be an amazing international spectacle.
