Neighbours’ rubbish complaints fell on deaf ears at Hounslow council for almost three months after a family were evicted from their home in Bedfont.

A couple living on Englehart Drive in Bedfont felt they were ignored by the council who failed to get the mess removed despite numerous calls made by them and another neighbour.

Fed up of the waste pile dumped in the alleyway near their home which included suitcases and buckets, they became more frustrated after spotting rodents.

However, the mess was eventually cleared last Friday (May 6).

But one neighbour, William Sainsbury who lives with his wife said the eyesore in the next door back garden still remains and there are continued concerns that the house has not been secured properly leaving it open to squatters and others.

“It had been more than nearly three months since the council came round and evicted the family at a moment’s notice,” said Mr Sainsbury.

“They sent people (contractors) round to clear the house out but they only took the furniture and left a load of rubbish outside in the alleyway.

“We called repeatedly and were pushed from pillar to post.”

Recently, Tesco Express in Bedfont were in the spotlight after people had been fly tipping outside the store which has led to CCTV cameras being considered for the area.

A similar issue with overflowing bins was reported at flats in Isleworth last month.

He confirmed the junk in the alley was recently cleared however said “the garden is still a tip with old carpets and mattresses.

“We are getting warmer weather and I have seen foxes around, the cats (left behind by owners) and even a rat and there’s a river at the bottom.

“We’re wary about druggies going in there - the place is rotten.

“We are at the end of our tether.”

Hounslow council were contacted for a comment last week.
