Police are looking for witnesses to a collision during a Prudential RideLondon event which left a female pedestrian with critical head injuries.

The incident happened in Parsons Green at around 12pm on Sunday (July 30), and also left the cyclist, a male in his 60s, needing hospital treatment.

Police say the 67-year-old pedestrian suffered head injuries and remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition.

It happened at the junction of New King’s Road and Guion Road.

DC Amanda Hawke, from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit , said: “We really need to understand more about what happened and hear from anyone who saw this collision, whether they were members of the public or perhaps working as part of the event.”

The cyclist was discharged from hospital after being treated for minor injuries.

On the same day Maris Ozols, a 67-year-old taking part in the RideLondon-Surrey event, died after suffering a cardiac arrest in Kensington .

A fundraising page set up in his memory by family has already raised more than £2,000 .
