Chelsea and Westminster Hospital charges an average of £3 per hour to park at the site, making it one of the most expensive hospital sites to park at in London, according to figures for 2013/14 from the Health and Social Care Information Service.

The cost of parking averages £2.30 per hour at Ealing Hospital, £2.10 per hour at Central Middlesex Hospital and Northwick Park & St Mark's Hospital, and £2 at The Royal Marsden.

You can also expect to pay £1.80 an hour at Mount Vernon Hospital and the Hillingdon Hospital and £1.40 per hour at West Middlesex Hospital. The Royal Marsden and West Middlesex also did not provide free parking for people with disabilities in 2013/14.

Across England, 389 hospital sites charge visitors for parking, compared to 979 that do not. There are also 130 sites that charge disabled visitors to park.

The average cost of an hour of parking for visitors at the sites that charge is £1.20, but units providing mental health care in Hertfordshire, Lister, QE2, and Shrodells, are charging £4 an hour on average.

Department of Health guidance issued in August is that parking charges should be reasonable for the area and concession rates or free parking should be offered to people with disabilities, frequent outpatient attenders and people visiting seriously ill relatives or those who are in hospital for long periods.
