Parts of regent Street are reopening after they were closed following the discovery of a suspect package at the world famous Hamley’s toy shop.

Police were called to the discovery at 2.50pm on Wednesday (February 15) afternoon and evacuated the shop and other surrounding buildings, while specialist officers carried out an investigation of the site.

Social media users said the road closure and evacuation was caused by a bomb scare.

However, at 3.30pm experts deemed the package not to be suspicious, with taped-off roads now reopening to traffic and pedestrians.

Roads were sealed off on Wednesday (February 15) afternoon

Tweeting from the scene Liam Richards said: “ Regent Street in shut down - apparently a #bomb in #hamleys?”

And Rachel Heyburn added: “Another Regent Street bomb scare but all fine and normal again.”
