It can be tough keeping your house in tip-top condition but imagine having to look after 775 rooms.

Thats why the Queen , due to celebrate her 91st birthday this April, needs your help.

Her Majesty and her Royal Household are looking for someone to help keep their regal curtains and soft furnishings fit for a queen.

The full-time job would see a fabric aficionado repairing, maintaining and upholstering the furnishings of more than 1,000 rooms across Buckingham Palace, St James' Palace and Windsor Castle.

You'll have to have experience and knowledge to repair Her Majesty's fading chaise longues and tabourets and you must know about antique regal fabrics.

Of course skills with handstitching and using sewing machines are vital, but you will also need to "possess a thorough understanding of conversation", a necessity in any corridors of power.

More than 800 members of staff work at Buckingham Palace, many with unusual jobs including a clockmaker, a flagman and a fendersmith - someone who cleans and repairs the metal fenders in front of fireplaces, and lights the fires.

The job offers a salary of £22,000 a year plus benefits.

It also presents the opportunity to "protect heritage by leaving your own legacy" - how can you put a price on that?

If this sounds like a job for you, apply here by Thursday April 6.
