Members of the public are being asked to have their say on Hammersmith & Fulham plans to introduce a 20mph speed limit.

Residents, commuters and business owners are being invited to have their say on whether or not to introduce a new limit before the July 31 deadline.

Hammersmith & Fulham Council is considering a borough-wide 20mph speed limit in an effort to reduce the number of casualties on the road, to promote public health by encouraging more walking and cycling and to make neighbourhoods more pleasant.

More than 2,000 have already voiced their opinion since the public consultation into the proposals was launched on June 9.

“We’ve been getting a wide range of people responding from all age groups and various different transport users, which is great to see,” said Cllr Wesley Harcourt, cabinet member for environment, transport and residents’ services.

“We’re still pushing though to get as many responses as possible to ensure our results are a fair and accurate representation of the views of the entire borough, which means we need everyone to spend just the two minutes it takes to fill in the form online and tell us your views.”

A similar public consultation has also been launched in neighbouring Hounslow Council.

Consultation packs have been posted to all addresses in the borough, and the short survey can also be found online at www.lbhf.gov.uk/20mph.
