Chants of "defend Ealing, defend Charing Cross" could be heard on the streets of the borough during demonstrations against NHS cuts.

A colourful sea of banners and placards were waved as residents marched against potential changes at Ealing Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital , including claims that A&Es are threatened with closure.

Hundreds of protesters chanted "no ifs, no buts, no NHS cuts" during the marches from Southall Park and Acton Park to Ealing Common, where a rally was held.

Banners with "Save Our Hospitals" were flying high too on Saturday September 30.

At Southall Park, politicians led the way with Ealing council leader, councillor Julian Bell and MP for Ealing Southall Virendra Sharma followed by mass crowds.

Meanwhile at Acton Park, MP for Hammersmith Andy Slaughter and MP for Ealing Central and Acton Rupa Huq , brought more campaigners to the rally.

Both boroughs have already been hit by NHS cuts which has seen maternity and paediatric services at Ealing closed, while the A&E at Hammersmith Hospital was ended in 2015.

Ealing and Hammersmith and Fulham Councils have launched a petition to protest the plans.

A bike ride in protest against the proposed changes to services will be held on Sunday (October 1).
