Men from Hounslow , Southall and Uxbridge are among the four suspects picked up by police investigating Islam-related terrorism.

The four were arrested overnight as part of a major operation by specialist police officers who have been searching a number of homes and vehicles in west London and the Thames Valley area. The suspects were taken to police stations in central London after their arrests and remain in custody.

This afternoon the Met released more details about the arrests. They said a man aged 27 was arrested in a car in Southall at 8.31pm on Thursday (November 6), followed shortly by the arrest of a 22-year-old man at an address in Hounslow at 8.45pm - firearms officers assisted in both arrests.

A 25 year-old was arrested in Uxbridge 2.55am on Friday (November 7), police said. The fourth suspect is 19 and was arrested in High Wycombe on Thursday night.

The men have been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the Commission, Preparation or Instigation of acts of Terrorism. Officers from the Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command (SO15) have been working closely with their colleagues in South East Counter Terrorism Unit and MI5.

Police said no shots were fired during the course of the arrests, and officers are searching addresses in Hounslow, High Wycombe, Uxbridge, Southall, Greenford and Hayes.
