Police are searching for a driver who left the scene after a spectacular crash in North Acton where a car landed on its roof in the middle of the road.

Officers were called to the scene in Park Royal Road, near Acton Cemetery, at about 10.50pm on Tuesday (September 27).

Police in Ealing said the driver had left when they arrived and officers were still trying to trace the motorist the following morning.

The road was closed until around 1am on Wednesday (September 28) as emergency services dealt with the aftermath.

A photo tweeted by police showed the vehicle resting on its bonnet and roof, with one flank badly dented and shattered glass strewn across the road surface.

Police tweeted the photo accompanied by a message urging motorists to "please drive safely".

The condition of the driver is not known and it is unclear whether there were any passengers in the car.

Anyone with information can call police on the non-emergency number 101.
