The car involved in the collision which killed a one-year-old baby was a licensed taxi, police have revealed.
The boy was struck by the Toyota Prius while with a member of his family outside Hyde Park Gate in Kensington on Monday (March 7) at 6.10pm.
He was taken to hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly before 10pm the same day.
The driver stopped at the scene and is helping police with their inquiries. He was not arrested.
Police say the baby has yet to be formally identified.
The incident is being investigated by detectives from the Met’s Serious Collisions Investigations Unit.
