Two Hillingdon police officers have been praised for their "immense bravery" after they rescued a woman from a burning house in South Ruislip on Tuesday (September 20).

The fire broke out in Bridgewater Road at 8.41pm and took 21 firefighters over an hour to bring under control.

Response team officers PC Panesar and PC Nicholson arrived on the scene and found a woman trapped inside the blazing house.

The officers heroically rescued the woman from the burning property and gave her CPR before London Ambulance Service arrived and rushed her to hospital.

PC Shand Panesar and PC Craig Nicholson have been praised by senior staff at the Metropolitan Police.

They have been praised with "no doubt saving her life" and "displaying immense bravery" by the former borough commander Nick Downing.

West area commander with the Metropolitan Police, Mr Downing praised the two officers on Twitter after hearing about their bravery.

The 30-year-old woman was taken to hospital and her condition is described as stable, not life threatening an not life changing.

Acting Chief Superintendent Colin Wingrove said: "I am extremely proud of the officers, and they will be back on duty tonight with all our other teams working as ever to keep Hillingdon safe.

"This represents an exceptional act of bravery by the police officers who put themselves in harm's way to enter a burning building and save a woman's life."
