A man has been left in a critical condition after being assaulted in Trafalgar Square in the early hours of Saturday morning (June 3).

Metropolitan police was called at around 12.40am to reports a man had collapsed after being assaulted.

London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended and treated the man, aged in his 50s, before he was taken to hospital.

His condition is described as critical but stable.

Enquires are under way to trace and inform his next of kin.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the assault.

No arrests have been made.
