Detectives are investigating a cash-in-transit robbery in Hayes after a man possessing a 'Samurai' sword was involved in the incident.

Police were called to a disturbance on Yeading Lane on Wednesday (August 3) morning just after 8.30am.

A man reported to be on an orange bicycle stole a cash box before escaping from the scene.

The male was also believed to be in possession of a 'Samurai' sword.

A heavy police presence was reported in the area around the Post Office on Yeading Lane in Hayes at around 9am this morning.

Police said there were no reported injuries and the Flying Squad team has been informed.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 8.36am on Wednesday, August 3, to Yeading Lane following reports that a male suspect on an orange bicycle and believed to be in possession of a small 'Samurai' sword stole a cash box before fleeing the scene.

No arrests have been made and police enquiries continue.
