Police wish to speak to a man who may have information about an incident in which an eight-year-old boy was kissed on the tube .

An appeal has been launched for information by British Transport Police (BTP) after a stranger kissed a child on the cheek on a Piccadilly line train.

The sexual assault incident happened at Russell Square to a boy who was travelling as part of a bigger group just after 2pm on Tuesday, February 21.

BTP officers want to speak to a man in connection with the incident as he may have information that can help the investigation.

The child sat next to a man who put his arm around him and began talking to him, police said.

The man then placed his face against the boy's face and moved away before coming back and kissing him on the cheek.

An adult nearby saw what happened and kicked the offender off the train at Piccadilly Circus.

He left the station in the direction of Shaftesbury Avenue.
