Police are hunting a thief reported to have targeted two Uxbridge salons in the same day.

The woman allegedly stole a handbag and three mobile phones from Short 'N' Curlys, at Uxbridge station, shortly after 11.30am on Monday (February 16).

Posing as a customer, she booked an appointment and asked to use the salon's toilet before making off with the goods, according to British Transport Police.

A short time earlier, she had targeted the LoveU salon, in High Street, according to staff there.

However, management have not alerted the Metropolitan Police, as nothing was taken.

A BTP spokesman said officers had spoken to two witnesses, both members of staff at Short 'N' Curlys, and would now consider examining CCTV footage from the premises.

They are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The woman is described as being in her early 20s, of medium height and with long hair.
