A suspect WWII bomb was found in the River Thames in Westminster today (January 19).

Metropolitan police said they were called to the River Thames by Victoria Embankment at 5.50pm to reports of a suspected WWII ordnance, reportedly a bomb.

Officers said specialist officers are on scene.

The A3211 Victoria Embankment is closed in both directions between Embankment Station and the A302 Bridge Street junction.

It is not yet known when the road will reopen.
