Police want to speak to this man after a woman was burned by what is believed to be a corrosive acid left on a bus stop bench.

It happened on Hounslow Road in Hanworth after two men were seen acting suspiciously on a bus they had boarded in Kingston.

The Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command have managed to track down one of the men but are yet to track down a second man.

The incident began at around 1.50am on April 28 when the men boarded the bus in Kingston and were seen fiddling with a plastic bag and a bottle.

The got off the bus on Hounslow Road and walked to a bus stop bench where they took something out of a blue plastic bag before leaving the area.

Soon after, a woman who had sat on the bus stop seat contacted police to report a sticky substance left on it which had burned through her clothes and onto her skin.

She was taken to a west London hospital and treated for burns.

Police then checked the bus the men had been travelling on and also found burn marks on the fabric of the seat and the floor where they had been sitting.

Officers believe the substance to be some sort of acid.

One of the men has been interviewed under caution and police are keen to speak to the second man who was seen carrying a plastic bag and have released a CCTV image of him.

He is described as white and approximately 40 years old. He was wearing a dark blue coat, blue jeans and white trainers.
