Police have arrested three men in connection with a suspected arson attack that led to the death of a man in Southall .

Officers from Met police said the three man, aged 30, 35 and 40, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson and remain in custody.

The arrests follow the fatal fire on Monday (April 25) in Cranleigh Gardens where firefighters rescued a man, who later died, shortly before 1am from a garage blaze after the building collapsed.

One man was also arrested earlier in the week on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, but the 22-year-old has been bailed to a date in mid-June.

The victim was on Thursday (April 28) named as Sherif Adel Makar Habib by police.

A post mortem examination at Uxbridge Mortuary on Wednesday (April 27) indicated that the initial cause of death was severe burns.

The victim's family are currently being supported by a specially trained Family Liaison Office from the police.

Officers are, at this stage, treating the death as unexplained as enquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Janet Livesey, Ealing Police CID, said: "I would like to appeal to anyone with any information, or indeed anyone who witnessed the fire to come forward and speak to the police in confidence."

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 020 8721 7070 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
