Local Harrow community members will be locked up at Pinner Police Station this Friday (March 27) in aid of St Luke's Hospice.

Each detainee will have to raise a minimum of £1,000 to be bailed out of jail or alternatively, the same price could be raised to keep them in!

President of Harrow United Deaf Club, Asif Iqbal MBE will be taking part in the jail and bail event.

“I'm backing the charity and offering my support by taking part in St Luke's Jail & Bail 2015," he said. "I would urge all supporters to donate to St Luke's Hospice to raise the much needed funds to support more patients and their families and access their services free of charge.”

St Luke's looks after people with cancer and other progressive illnesses in the area. The care that the charity offers includes not only the treatment of physical symptoms, but also extends to consider the emotional, psychological and social needs of their patients.

Other members of the community taking part in the event include: Cllr Manji Kara, Sarojini Patel (Neighbourhood Champion), Gowry Sri Ragavan, Robin Webb (CEO of St Luke’s), Ros Scott, Krishna Pujara (Community champion for women’s health and services) and Bob Blackman (MP for Harrow East).

Cllr Ameet Jogia, who will also be taking part in the event, said: “St Luke’s Hospice is an asset to our local community. I have witnessed first-hand the excellent care and service they offer; all of which is provided free of charge.

"It’s an honour to take part in this year’s Jail and Bail Challenge. I just hope people don’t pay more to keep me in jail!”

Last year, St Luke's Jail and Bail event raised a staggering £17,000 for the charity.

If you think you can raise a minimum of £1,000 and would like to take part, visit the St. luke's Hospice website or contact Aneka Shah on 020 8382 8063.
