The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, will grace their presence at Heathrow to officially open Her Majesty's new Terminal on Monday (23).

The old Terminal 2, originally known as the Europa Building, was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1955, before being demolished after 54 years in service in 2009.

Now on June 23, 2014, 59 years after Heathrow's first terminal was opened to passengers, history will repeat itself as another iconic moment is captured as The Queen, alongside Prince Philip, open the £2.5 billion terminal named in her honour.

Here at getwestlondon we have dug out some old pictures for a trip down memory lane of other royal openings and visits to Heathrow.

The soft opening of the new Terminal 2 was on June 4, 2014.

Staff praise the mini T5 on opening day.

Passengers delighted with the Terminal 2 experience.
