It is meant to take place in a galaxy far far away. But that didn't stop Star Wars fans celebrating a special day much closer to home this week.
Sunday May 4 is unofficially known as Star Wars Day (May the 4th Be With You) and specialist shop Jedi-Robes in Church Road, Northolt joined film fans in celebration.
Owner Wayne Bowyer said: “May the 4 is a very special day for us, it's a little bit like our birthday.
Unfortunately this year it fell on a Sunday [when the shop is closed] but Saturday was a busy day. There were a lot of customers.”
While Star Wars has always enjoyed a generous amount of popularity over the years which has seldom waned, there was more excitement this week when it emerged the trio of stars from the original films will reunite for the seventh galactic instalment, which starts filming this month in Pinewood Studios.
Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Mark Hamlin (Luke Skywalker) and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia). Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker will also return as C-3PO, Chewbacca and R2-D2 respectively.
